Son of Mr and Mrs George Gilbert, of A/1 Jail Road, Lahore, Punjab, India.
The Lancaster Gazette explains that Vernon died after being shot in the head, the explanation as to why he is on the Carnforth War Memorial is that in the article says that Vernon was the nephew of Dr Moss of Carnforth. It goes on to say that Vernon was born in India and was being educated in Devonshire, England when he signed up last year.
