The 1911 census shows him still living with his parents in Yealand Conyers with his sibling Janet Elizabeth age 28. One of his siblings had died prior to 1911. His father’s occupation was coachman.
He signed up on the 30 December 1914 at Lancaster and was a joiner by trade
