He died in the 56th General Hospital, Etaples, France, of syncope. In his will he left 207 to his mother Elizabeth Nuttall now shown as widowed. His parents were Richard and Elizabeth of Springfield Street, Morecambe. He is remembered on the Morecambe War Memorial in Lancashire. The only assumption as to why he is on the Carnforth War Memorial is that he was employed in Carnforth prior to signing up.
