Flight Sergeant 1040315 Nav Royal Air Force Volunteer Reserve 83 Squadron
He lived at 127 North Road, Carnforth with his parents Arthur (dob 15 August 1892) and Emily. He also had a sister Joan.
He was shot down while returning from raid on Berlin. At the time the 83 Squadron was equipped with Lancaster Bombers and was part of the Raf’s Bomber Command’s elite Pathfinder force. At the time he was based at Wyton RF Base, Huntingdon, Cambridgeshire He was shot down by a Ju88 Nigh fighter at Varnaes, 6 miles South East of Aabenraa, four of the crew survived and were captured by the Germans.
His will shows that his father Arthur was a bank manager and he left 179.
