Son of Thomas and Sarah Ann and has a sibling Arthur,
1901 Census shows that he and his father were born in Silverdale. Sarah was born in Wigan and the family by the 1901 census had moved to Cheadle in Cheshire. His father’s ocupation was coachman domestic. By 1911 the family had increased to include Jessie and Ernest. Arthur is not recorded on the 1911 census. His father’s occupation was now club steward.
